Give me one good reason why it’s okay to label Sally Donovan (who is, conveniently, the only woman of color on this show) a ‘bitch’ because she did her fucking job.

Did you see the scene I selected for Donovan? It’s not the scene where she’s turning Lestrade against Sherlock it’s totally different scene so unless her job is laughing at Sherlock during press conferences she wasn’t doing her job in that scene!

Do yourself a favor and stop looking for racism and misogyny where there isn’t any!

Well, really, my comment was directed at the fandom at large, but since you decided to respond, hi.

I did notice. I noticed also that you deliberately made Irene, Molly, and Mrs. Hudson sympathetic. I even noticed that the scene you chose for Sally as ‘professional’ is the one where she’s goading Sherlock.

I didn’t say you were racist, but I do think the hate for Sally across the fandom is based on the fact that she’s a woman of color who—OH MY GAWD—stands up to the white guy who swoops in and undermines her every chance he gets. In fact, I blame the writers more than I blame the fandom for a lot of this.

Sherlock treats Sally like shit. He undermines her constantly, he mocks her, he waves her sex life around like it’s any of his business. But, surprise surprise, nowhere near as many people get on Sherlock’s case for treating her like scum as they do Sally for retaliating.

Are either of them right? No. Absolutely not. But I’m sick of Sally being made out to be some disgusting waste of space because, god forbid, she doesn’t let people kick her without kicking back.

I even noticed that every single white character, Jim and Sherlock included, didn’t get a second label that’s inherently negative. ‘Insane’ and ‘Sociopath’ can be used as a synonym for ‘bad’—incorrectly, I might add—but if that’s the case then you’re ableist in addition to perpetuating racist fuckery.

And maybe you should stop getting defensive when someone points out potentially racist and sexist behavior and instead do a little bit of research and consider that what other people are saying might be a little bit valid.

One can perpetuate racist behaviors without realizing it and one can perpetuate racist behaviors without being intentionally racist. Still doesn’t make it okay.

PREACH

Sally does her job. She isn’t always right, but she does her fucking job and she does it well. She has every reason to be wary of Sherlock, and she would be negligent — she would be letting her team down and potentially putting them and their cases at risk — if she didn’t express her doubts.

Get outta here with that bitch bullshit.
